The UCR is a write only register which configures the UARTtransmitter and receiver circuits. The Simtek STK10C48 is a fast static RAM with a non-volatile electrically erasable PROM (EEPROM) elementincorporated in each static memory cell. The SRAMcan be read and written an unlimited number of times,while independent nonvolatile data resides inEEPROM.
