The XC1800 family is fully compliant with the IEEE Std.1149.1 Boundary-Scan, also known as JTAG. A TestAccess Port (TAP) and registers are provided to support allrequired boundary scan instructions, as well as many of theoptional instructions specified by IEEE Std. 1149.1. In addi-tion, the JTAG interface is used to implement in-systemprogramming (ISP) to facilitate configuration, erasure, andverification operations on the XC1800 device.

Module Protection The module is protected against occasional andpermanent shortcircuits of the output pins toground, as well as against output current overload.It uses a current limiting protection circuitry, avoid-ing latch-up problems with certain types of loads.
