THEORY OF OPERATIONThe SSM2275 and SSM2475 are low noise and low distortion rail-to-rail output amplifiers that are excellent for audio applica-tions. Based on the OP275 audiophile amplifier, the SSM2275/SSM2475 0ffers many similar performance characteristics withthe advantage of a rail-to-rail output from a single supplysource. Its low input voltage noise figure of 7 nWX~ allows thedevice to be used in applications requiring high gain, such asmicrophone preamplifiers. Its 11 V/ccS slew rate also allows theSSM2275/SSM2475 to produce wide output voltage swingswhile maintaining low distortion. In addition, its low harmonicdistortion figure of 0.0006% makes the SSM2275 andSSM2475 ideal for high quality audio applications.

In unsynchronized mode, when the power that is drawnfrom the converter decreases, the converter switchingfrequency also decreases. At very low power (standby)levels, the frequency of the VCO decreases from 25 kHzto the minimum value of approximately 6 kHz as shown bythe slope of Fig.4.
